This page contains information on software for the Panasonic SV-SD70-A media player

This page was originally posted to ask for help a number of years ago, but the author has since received help to get the software for this Panasonic device

Background Story

I have an Panasonic SV-SD70 MP3 player (SD card), that appears to be pretty much the same as the SV-SD75. The model I have is supplied with a Japanese version of SD-Jukebox software. I couldn’t find the English version, so couldn’t use the MP3 player.

Upgrades are available on the Panasonic website for this unit, but rely on having the Panasonic Media Manager installed, or the RealJukebox for Panasonic plug-in… neither of which I have. Searches of newsgroups and websites indicate that I’m not alone in my search.

If you’re looking for a copy of the software, your first point of contact should be technical.support@panasonic.co.uk, customer.care@panasonic.co.uk and consumerproducts@panasonic.com – They should be able to help to sell you a copy of the Panasonic Media Manager software.

I received a response from Panasonic in the UK informing me that I could buy the software as a spare from Panasonic Customer Care on 08705 357357, or my mail order from SEME LTD in Buckingham (Tel: 01280 823523).

Windows XP Installation procedure:

  • run rjb_us_sd75xp.exe
  • Insert Panasonic CD
  • Select Real Jukebox and USB, then install
  • Connect the Panasonic USB SC card reader
  • Reboot when prompted
  • The install Real One from www.real.com
  • Then apply the usbrw.exe and pen4.exe patches if required

From: T(teelu75@yahoo.com)
Comment: The worst thing that I have ever done Is ask my Fiance to buy me the Panasonic SV-SD85. Since the software disk and registration key for the SD Jukebox Software Ver. 4.0 does not work I now have a “MP3” player that cost him over $250.00 that does not work and the “business where we purchased it and Panasonic just don’t give a D**n and I feel really bad. I want it to work however it doesn’t. If anyone can help PLEASE do..

From: Chris(chris.ravo@btinternet.com)
Comment: Hi all, after reading all the comments for lost serial numbers. I have full software + serial number. Serial number only works with the disc that you are trying to install, so just sending a serial number will not work. If you want a copy let me know.

From: Tris(transmitthis@eml.cc)
Comment: Wow, just been emailing Emma Stevens & Customer Support (panasonic)

Comment: This is 2006 and trace the date on this page, it is 2003. Panasonic must be the idiots running the show but don’t know for how long. They are using one rule- “Buy it and be screwed with it!” If they cared for people who buy they stuff, they would make their life easier. Why not make it possible to transfer the music using any card – reader? After all we bought something from you. I don’t think I would buy anything Panasonic on it. I wish I could turn back time and not have bought this D-snap thing! Someone has to let them know that anyone who faces this problem will not come back to them- EVER!

From: Karamu(karamuchu@yahoo.com)
Comment: Well, I’ve just read through the previous comments and it seems I’m not the only person having problems with SD Jukebox seeing my SD card. Is it really true that SD Jukebox will ONLY talk to a Panasonic USB reader?! If that is the case it’s outrageous!! I’m not even using a Panasoninc product- it’s for my cellphone’s music player- for whatever reason it uses the SD audio format for music recording and playback. I can record audio in realtime using the headphone jack- like a taperecorder, but it takes too long and I want use my PC to manage my music as I only have a 128MB card and therefore want to change music almost daily. I am using a Japanese Sharp Vodafone cellphone- I have seen the new version of SD Jukebox with a Panasonic reader in Yodobashi Camera for more than 7000yen, which I’m reluctant to pay when I already have a SD card reader and have been able to download the software. Any help or constructive comments will be VERY welcome! Yoroshiku onegaishimasu minna san!

From: lee(nospam@thank.you)
Comment: if you have lost the serial number (like I had) but are so fortunate to have the program installed on another machine, you can retrieve the serial from that installation by looking in the registry.

start -> run -> type “regedit” -> press enter or “ok”

once in regedit go to
My ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPanasonicSDApfSD-PML

in the field “SD-JukeSerial” you will find your serial.

I’m trying to convert VM1 to MP3 directly

I don’t know of any software that will do that in one step. However, the Sound Editor software will convert the VM1 to WAV. There are several tools that you can use to then convert to mp3, ogg vorbis, or whatever format you want.

Here are 2 articles to help you out. If you need further help, register and post on my forum.

Comment: UPDATE:
I’ve also added a legal link for Panasonic Voice Editor 3 (in English) – directly from Panasonic’s Czech Republic website so you can deal with the .vm1 hidden voice files on the SV-20. Plus I added how to freely convert the resulting .wav files from Voice Editor to mp3.

I also link to software that will convert the proprietary MS .asf video files to MPEG.

Comment: I’m posting this again as a refresher….

Due to the many issues surround the Panasonic SV-AV20u, I’ve posted an extensive article on my forum with lots of information including where to “legally” get the SD-Jukebox v3, SD-Moviestage v3, and the USB Drivers from Panasonic in English. I also have my methods for actually using the device without even needing their software.

Note: If you need v4 of the software, you can post on my forum, and I’ll see if I can help you out. It is out in the wild…

Comment: My equipment: SV-SD85 with SD-jukeboxV4 on winXP.
My problem: On transfering an MP3 to SD-card
SD-jukebox stops the transfer half the way (or less)
with error message (transfer failed) or locks up
at the end (100%) of transfer.
btw: works okay on winME.
Any suggestions? Does anybody know which XP services

Comment: I have now sorted out all my Panasonic problems. I returned my SD 50 back the shop and traded DOWN to a Creative MuVo 512Mb. Super fast no fuss data speed, no need for other software. Audio is just as good. So bloody simple and it plays protected WMA’s as well. I wish you all well with your endeavours to get these things working. But do the world a favor and DON’T pass your problems on to poor suckers on eBay !! I hope I have helped some re the software. My disk is on the net regards. ash

Comment: Well Guys, I tried this a couple of times now and I can’t seem to reproduce the error. The 512 Lexar works everytime using the Tosh built in SD Reader. I cannot however get it to work using the Panasonic SD reader. Not to worry about that though ! On to the next problem, how I get to side step the SD-Jukebox program, anyone done any reseach on how to use the Jukebox dlls to perform the encoding to SD ? Thought I might have a go at this but before I do, thought that I would check with you guys to see if anyone has tried this before ? TIA – Danny.

From: Danny(dan_crone@nfocus.co.uk)
Comment: Hi Ash,
Yep, have read all messages and still no joy, I have tried the Format option in Jukebox and Panasonics SDFormatter. Both failed. However, I have a toshiba portege with an SD slot and the panasonic sd card reader, somehow the other day, I managed to get the 512 Lexar card formated (via Jukebox) and managed to copy some music to it all via the built in tosh sd slot !! Joy ! Wait for it though ! It played quite happliy in the player but today, sd jukebox will not recognise the card again in either readers ! Grrrrr ! Confused ! Comment: Hey Danny (dan_crone@nfocus.co.uk)
Have you tried using the format option on Jukebox. I think that is the ONLY method of formatting the SD’s…….good luck.

And a message to previous message posters…….Do you actually read preceeding msgs or do you just cry for help. Read some of the posts below and you will find the answer to your questions. !

Anyone have any ideas ? Is there a low level format that I can apply ?

http://engineering.panasonic.ru/Support/Categories/D-snap.aspx

A working serial can be found here in a post by Roo:
http://www.mobile-review.com/forum2/showpost.php?p=169100&postcount=10

Hope that helps everyone out. Whistles as he wonders if this will show up on bit torrent.

Comment: Hey All. Don’t bother using the Serial Numbers here. They won’t work. Each SN is linked to a disk. Not a problem… Disk will be available with SN very soon. All will be notified. Read previous recent msgs here.!!

Comment: If anyone has a copy of SD Jukebox, I can provide a private FTP for this software to be uploaded to me. Shortly after receiving it, it will be unleashed through Bit Torrent and enough of Panasonic’s stranglehold with this DRM….grrr. It’s my mission in life to be able to use this device now.

Comment: This is what I get for not researching stuff on ebay – a player with no software and no card reader ;(
Mine is a SV-SD50.

Basic questions:
1. Do I need Panasonic’s card reader? YES
2. Can the software CD be ordered from Panasonic? YES – how much does it cost? – what is it called? SD JUKEBOX V4.0(Panasonic Media Manager or Real Player for Panasonic?) CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM REAL.COM. But I couldn’t work out how to get it to work with the sd50.

Any other ideas for how to get some music onto this thing so I can avoid having wasted $50?? There is no other way

Don’t buy one in the first place.

Comment: If I can help anyone with Jukebox 4 Serial Number, send me an email. I am sure Panasonic won’t mind. They have caused more than enough inconvenience with this useless program. It’s the least they can expect. I won’t need my disk because I am going to return my SD player and buy an iPod. No software required!!

From:Ash(newmerella@supernerd.com.au)
Comment: I have a Panasonic SD51 which uses the Jukebox software. I have found it to be the most useless crap I have ever had the displeasure of using. Panasonic should be ashamed of themselves for making such a great product so bloody impossible to use. I have found most of my WMA files fail on upload. You can only upload one user playlist at a time. I bought this thing for my son but have found that it will become a full time job ‘re-engineering’ the SD card each time he wants a new load of songs. It is slow to upload, you can only use the provided SD reader, not your own USB2, ……….I could go on for ever. On the bright side, it has great sound and is built well. It is all down to the selfishness of the designers who have made these things SD players instead of MP3 players. I ham so fed-up with mine that I am returning it to the shop and I will exchange it for something that actually is a MP3 player. Bloody disgrace on Panasonic for being so restrictive with a great product.
I’d be glad to hear any one elses comments. I can see buy other msgs here that it is a real problem without the serial number. I suggest if you haven’t had your unit long, take it back and get a good one.

From: unknown(giddy@yahoo.com)
Comment: SD JUKEBOX is exclusive for the Panasonic D-Snap SV-AV50, and probably for other Panasonic devices. This has to be one of the most IDIOTIC inventions to date. After numerous days and even weeks of fiddling around with the camera and Jukebox and many failed attempts with the jokers at Panasonic Tech Support, I was able to finally write songs to the USB CARD. But here’s what you need to know: SD JUKEBOX will only read/write to the PANASONIC CARD READER or CRADLE! It’s not compatible with any other CARD READERS out there! And the file structure for the AAC files are very unique, and can only be encripted by JUKEBOX. Everytime you “WRITE” music from HD to CARD, JUKEBOX encodes it on the fly, hence you cannot, I repeat cannot locate these files on your HD and try to drop them directly onto the CARD itself. IT HAS TO BE USED WITH JUKEBOX AND A PANASONIC USB CARD READER/WRITER! I am pretty close to throwing this camera out the window, if I haven’t paid $700 for it already, and the time taken to figure all this garbage out. Only to find that Panasonics little encryption is nothing more than a scheme to force you into exclusively using Panasonic products. Which may I add is a total robbery! Cradle is $45 USD, and doesn’t even come with an AC Adapter or Panasonic USB Port ($30 + 10), and none of these parts are standard. So don’t try to buy a cradle and think it will fit with any other USB cable or AC Adapter. And if you don’t like that, Panasonic recommends getting a card reader for a mere $110 USD. So pick whichever way you want to be screwed. Let’s just say this D-Snap SV-AV50 has been quite a learning experience. Not in electronics, but in business ethics. Radio Shack is getting a return item within the next 24hours. So next time, do your research before buying. BTW-the quality of this camera is comparible to a WEBCAM.

Comment: Dear Graham and all of guys and girls, who got same prooblem as me.
To activate JukeBox 3 you must have not only serial, but serial and username… I know, its a pity.
So, I have SV-SD50 device, I had no software and cd`s, but I spent many time to get something to download and make SV-Sd50 works. That, what I found.
1. You can download SD-Jukebox v3.0 by the link http://www.panasonic.com.au/downloads/SD%20Jukebox%20Ver%204.0.zip
2. When you downloaded, you should activate it. You download the file http://www.geocities.com/sdjukebox30/setup.gif
3. Downloaded? Then you rename it to setup.zip, and extract to the path, where you extracted SD-Jukebox installation. It will be little file named setup.inx
4. You run setup.exe and use Name: bonchlord and sn: 1234567890 (as I think this information will be erased by moderator, I wish you to go to the www.geocities.com and get Name and sn form there.
5. You had installed SD-Jukebox version 3.0! Congrats!
The problem I cant solve is a conflict between SD card reader and SD-Jukebox. JB just cannt see device! If someone can help me – help me :)
So, I hope, that information I got will helps you!
Sorry my English, guys.

Comment: Hi, I lost my CD and I downloaded the Aussie Jukebox 3.0 software in the previous link. But my serial number doesn’t work. It’s an original serial number but maybe because I bought it in Japan, it doesn’t work with the Aussie software. Would somebody be kind enough to email me the proper serial number, many thanks. If it works, I really don’t mind paying $10 for it via paypal.

Mine was accidentally destroyed – needless to say without me taking a copy. So if any kind soul has the serial for version 4.0 I would be eternally (well, almost!) grateful. Comment: Hello !
Thanks to all for info but i stiil dont find one alternative to SD-jukebox v4.
I have the SV-SD85 bought in Hong-Kong for my girlfriend: (This is luck ;).
I have too the original CD (SD JUKEBOX V4) and serial number in english (Im spanish, but can work with this)
The problem is than this soft is bad, so bad. (una puta MIERDA para ser exactos).
I look for internet and i read than the “realOne”, “realJukebox”, etc, can work with some SV-SDxx divices, but the instalation and configuration is very complex.
At the Panasonic home page i learm how to do it, (download Real, PlugIns, and WMA upgrades) but when i try to install some of theese aplications, its give me an error because my original “Panasonic CD” is not “realone 4 panasonic” or “Jukebox 4 panasonic”, its “”SD-Jukebox V4″”.
I can´t find any post about the SV-SD85 and RealOne, only for SV-SD80, and others.
If any one knows something about this, please contact me.
Again, thanks to all ;)

Comment: Greetings to all “SO I AM NOT ALONE” guess i have been at it a lot longer as i have the Panasonic NV-MX7 which also uses the SD-Jukebox software. I have the latest version and I have my serial number my camera and a 256MB KingMax SD Card and yes it still refuses to talk to my SD Card , I have tried it in the camera and also in an external SD Card reader and even purchased an internal SD 8in1 Card Reader thinking the USB might have something to do with t. WRONG and im still at a loss, I once heard there was a way of dropping the songs directly on to the card but was unable to find it, I know there is a directory structure for music files the same as for photos so that the camera can recognise the difference and perform the correct funtion but I am at a loss as to the music one. If anyone has any idea or info we might be able to swap ideas or possible come up with a soloution. I have no problems with anyone emailing me direct and can assure if you want you email kept private then thats cool too. But i sure as hell would like to sort this thing out soon as its driving me crazy. Thanks for your time and patience.

Comment: i also need to install (register) original sdpasvc.exe service included in my old panasonic realone media manager cd. i don’t know why they don’t supply upgrades for free.
bad thing about sdjukebox is you need to import (convert/encrypt) files into sdjukebox software before uploading to sd card. so you got 2 file on this (original and imported). with realone converting/encrypting happens during transfer to sd card.

From: Dino (dgiovanini@yahoo.com)
Comment: the Elink still works, i tried yesterday and found 17 sources for the iso file. (you need to copy the elink and paste it on the search field of Edonkey 2000 or E-mule and click start, even if you have installed edonkey or emule, both programs will catch the elink and they´ll start downloading the file.)
and just in case, i finally found how to drop music files into the camera. red the manual from the top to the bottom and i´ve found this procedure:
first , install the usb driver that comes with the sd jukebox software, then, restart windows. after that, put the camera in PLAY MODE, plug in the AC Adapter to the camera, and to the energy plug on the wall, then, use every generic usb interface you want, the camera will emit three beep sounds, and the screen will show a message like “Pc accesing”. that´s all the procedure, in windows XP a new device will be shown (matshita usb mass storage or something like that). then start sd jukebox, and that´s all !!, the only thing missing is that if you don´t have the remote control, you will not be able to equalize the music files. hope it works for you guys !
regards from Argentina.

MONTHS trying to find the software to get/put audio on the device, until this post about http://www.sdlink.co.za site… and downloaded the Media Manager / Real Jukebox file. Comment: Dan,

I have the same problem as you. I’ve got the SW up and running just fine…I purchased the Japanese version and figured it was worth seeing if it would work. My USB 2.0 SD card reader I bought works, but isn’t listed on Panasonic’s page as one of the supported models… (http://panasonic.jp/support/audio/sd/download/sd_formatter_e.html)

The format tool WILL format the SD card, but the SD card DOESN’T show up in SD-Jukebox. (SD-Jukebox V3.0J) I’ve tried the patch, but it still won’t show up on SD-Jukebox…

Any ideas? Do I just need to return the USB driver and try to get a supported one? WTF made Panasonic decide to be such an idiot with both the SD thing and the SV-SD80?

From: Eric(peteer01@hotmail.com)

From: Reptar(reptar at yahoo.com)
Comment: Oh dear, I now have a japanese SV-SD80 with no software. Oops. I do have an SD card writer, however: what files/directories does the official software create?

If I knew the magical directory structure / playlist structure, I might be able to convert MP3s to AAC format and dump them on the card myself. Or is there some copywrite protection shindiggery involved too?

From: Umberto(no@email.com)
Comment: You are one of the many Panasonic sd75 owners that are struggling with the software….
Suggestions?: A program called CDex should solve your problem…it converts Wav files into AAC, which if the format used by the mp3 player…it seems to be the fastest! Panasonic and Real player had some problems concerning products and profitability agreements….

Question: http://www.cd-rw.org/software/ and under MP3 Tools…good luck!!!!
